Grappling Art
Jiu Jitsu, meaning “The Gentle Art,” is founded on the principle of using an opponent’s energy against them rather than meeting force with force. Instead of direct confrontation, it emphasizes redirecting an attacker’s movement and applying efficient grappling techniques to neutralize threats. These include throws, takedowns, pins, escapes, reversals, chokes, and joint locks.
A core philosophy of Jiu Jitsu is that a smaller, weaker individual can overcome a larger, stronger opponent through superior technique, leverage, and strategic positioning—most notably by bringing the fight to the ground, where proper mechanics can dictate the outcome.
Jiu Jitsu training can be applied in various settings, including sport grappling tournaments, MMA competition, and practical self-defense.
